Super excited to be playing dress up today, I have my dress, my shoes and my clutch, all that’s left is the ‘getting ready’ process. These are my beauty secrets, trust me its nothing special, I am so far from being a makeup guru – I honestly just buy what Shoppers Drug Mart has on sale. #TricksForThe Broke
I start off with this amazing moisturizer that my sister and I found at Shoppers Drug Mart, its so refreshing with a light scent that keeps my face hydrated and mattified all day! For only $24 I should have bought in bulk.
I then move on to the foundation of my face…ya know, ’cause we’re building a home for our makeup. I use a simple Fit Me Foundation by Maybelline, I love this foundation because its lightweight and really smooth, I don’t feel like it gets caked on and its the most natural look I’ve come across thus far…plus its cheap so thats a bonus!
Once I have my first base I seal everything in by adding a powder. I swear by this little thing because even if I’m not wearing foundation, its just as amazing on its own. I don’t think Bourjois gets enough credit for their Healthy Balance collection – I swear its magic.
This is probably not the best order of production here but now I use my handy, dandy contour stick… NYX Wonder Stick to get into specifics. I don’t go crazy with this, I don’t need people thinking I have permanent shadows on my face…only sometimes.
if needed, I powder a little after – I feel if makeup artist are reading this they are already trying to find out where I live to teach me a lesson on properly applying makeup…something about liquid before powder…the day it stops working for me I promise I’ll listen to what you have to say!
Next I use the magic of NYX Highlight and Contour Pro Pallet K, now I know I’m really asking for it…I don’t even use this for highlighting or contouring…I solely use this as my blush. When it works, it works.
I don’t use mascara because I’m super extra and get eyelash extensions done by the incredible Vanessa Stubbs. If I want to be a little more extra that day I just use my heated eyelash curler to add that ‘va-voom’ I’m looking for.
Finally I mess around with some eyeshadow, theres really only two or three colours I fu*k with; gold, brown, and white – I’m Creatively Uncreative like that. The Nudes eyeshadow pallet by Maybelline is lightweight powder that adds such boldness to my eyes.
Now its time to get dressed! I wanted to avoid a bra today because I didn’t want the straps to show and strapless bras just never stay up (I don’t trust women who wear strapless bras, how are you making them stay in place?!) I bought these “sticky boobs” from M Boutique the other day, only $28, unbelievable! And to think I’ve been spending over $40 at other places…watch, now that I’m bragging about it they probably won’t even be that sticky and I’ll have to go out and buy another pair.
I bought my outfit a few weeks ago from M Boutique, $96 for the set, the shoes are Steve Madden at $110, and the clutch is Michael Kors $198.
Now that I’ve just shared my process I should probably start it for real as I’ll be getting picked up soon…before I go, as a reminder to myself and also a tip for the readers, bring a pair of comfy shoes just in case.
Beauty is pain…come with a second pair of shoes!
I’m sure I will be posting about all the incredible foods I’m about to consume – “What wedding? I thought we were just going out for dinner?” clearly focusing on all the wrong things. Either way I am so excited for you to experience what I’m about to experience.
Catch you on the wine side,
-A
