DIY Sliced Leggings

Lets Scissor!

The other day I was shopping around (as I usually do even though I know I shouldn’t be spending money) when I came across these super cool looking leggings, they were all sliced up in the front. I really wanted to buy them but couldn’t come to terms with spending $48 on one pair. I went home that night and couldn’t stop thinking about them…these leggings would make the perfect addition to my closet – I had to have it! Instead of going out to buy them I decided to try to make them myself.

I found a pair of old leggings that have been replaced by several new leggings so if I fu*ked this up it wouldn’t matter, I still have all my other leggings.

A little trick; find the seam on the leg and make sure its right in the middle when you fold the pant leg together.

I rarely measure, I am a firm believe in eyeballing so wherever you want to start the slices, have at it! You can make them as small or large in length as you like but generally you’ll want to keep about a cm distance from each slice so the fabric between the openings are thin.

Its really so simple, I think the most important part of this is having a pair of fabric scissors, they have a much cleaner cut than paper scissors will have.

A big shoutout to my sister Lindsay for being my little model, hope you like your revitalized leggings!

When it comes to clothing I have a tendency of cutting up and revamping, I can’t tell you how many pieces I’ve thrown away or had to use as rags in the kitchen because I’ve ruined them.

Theres really no right or wrong way – its all unique to who you are, stand out from everyone else, you don’t need to dress alike. Let those scissors help sculpt who you are, in your clothing!

To The Love Of My Life

Unless you are pizza, the answer is yes, I can live without you. #SliceSliceBaby

Dear pizza,

in times when I am wilting away, you are there. In times of pure ‘hangry-ness’, you are there. The way you let your grease drip down my arm as I bite down on your doughy base and gooey cheese is the most selfless act I have every experienced.

I like the way you taste at Pizza Hut, the way you have been deep dished, sauced up, and cheesed is utter perfection.

I like the way you taste at Free Toppings when a slice of you has been sitting out under a heat lamp for some time, the way your bottom is crispy and your top is together perfectly. I hate sharing you with the world and I have learned my lesson, I need to be more selfish when it comes to your crispy outside and doughy insides, I love you.

I enjoy the way you taste at Little Caesars, you are always hot and ready, I never have to wait. I also love the way you have been deep, deep dished, wrapped in bacon, and topped with bacon – never change – you are perfect.

I love how thin your crust is at Pizza Express, you make me feel healthy and refreshed…I never feel guilty for ordering all of you to myself.

I love the way you are personalized just for me at Spin Cafe, you are so freakin’ adorable and just like a new born baby, you are doughy all over.

We have been through so much together I just wanted to let you know I’m thinking of you and I can’t wait to have you all to myself again.

You will always be a pizza me,

My Lettuce Pocket Surprise

*Insert corny lettuce pun here*

Feeling hungry and only have boring leftovers? No problem! I had leftover chilli and spaghetti sauce in the fridge so I decided to create something exciting…and a little healthy since I ate like a pig over the weekend.

I started with a cup of chilli and spaghetti sauce mixed together and heated that up.

Then I added sliced zucchini and green peppers to a pan and cooked those babies to soft perfection, adding in my favourite (most basic) seasonings – garlic and cracked black pepper.

Prepping was easy, all I needed while my veggies were cooking and my saucy chilli was heating was a giant plate of lettuce.

Once everything was cooked and ready it was all up to the presentation! I opened the lettuce up, added my saucy chilli, topped it with my veggies and sprinkled on some parmesan for a bit of a cheesy kick!

Once that was set I swaddled it like a new born baby!

The excitement was unbearable, I couldn’t wait to dig in…

These Lettuce Pockets had one hell of a Surprise in them – Ultimate Deliciousness! I’m pretty sure most of it ended up all over my face but isn’t getting messy the best part of eating? No, you’re right, eating is the best part of eating, getting messy is just a bonus.
I feel so content and pretty healthy after my crafty lunch – ready to seize the day!

If you try this at home, I suggest not wearing white…big mistake!

My First Italian Wedding was a ‘Successo!’

Am I Italian yet?

After countless shots and other beverages consumed, my evening was somewhat of a blur. My second pair of shoes were left in the car and not needed at all thanks to “drunk-feet” – drinking so much you don’t feel any pain that might be caused by uncomfortable shoes…or maybe the shoes were just hella comfortable. Good job Steve Madden, or should I say good job Sambuca.

There was a water fountain in the lobby with a grand piano where a pianist would play before we went in for dinner – he was on break I guess.

There was also a fancy little car – clearly not a car person.

Between the car, the piano, the champagne, shots, and cookies in the lobby, waiting for the reception to start was a breeze!

Matthew did not lie when he said their was going to be a crazy amount of food, those Italians sure can eat! I was pretty crummy at taking pictures so you’re going to need to use your imagination here. I’ll start off with the first plate of food I consumed…which I failed to capture because I was so hungry.

As you can see from the crumbs, I ate it all much too fast…a collection of calamari, muscles, peppers, baby corn, rice, potato salad, bread, Italian meats and some other nick-nackish foods that I can’t remember right now.

The second serving was the pasta dish, gnocchi and cannelloni – so creamy, so delicious! Honestly if this was the only dish I would have been happy with just that, it really hit the spot.

But no, it didn’t stop there, that wasn’t even the main dish! Servers came around with chicken, vegetables, potatoes, salmon, and salad…I was already so full but I didn’t want to be rude. So I filled my plate.

More beverages were consumed, I think there was dancing…I met a boy who out-danced me and thought it was hilarious so he kept doing it. He broke out into the worm, how am I supposed to beat that? If I wasn’t wearing a dress I would have tried…I hate losing, I don’t care if he is 6, I’d say it was an unfair battle.

Dessert was served, cupcakes and fruit, lovely mix.

After that, there was even more dancing…and because we danced so hard we would get thirsty – bless those open bars.

That child kept coming up to me and showing me his dance moves, when I decided we should team up he would just roll his eyes at me as though my moves couldn’t compare. Eventually I broke him down when I showed him the only magic trick I know – the one where you have something small in your hand and you have to make it disappear then reappear in their ear…yes, you know, the trick your creepy uncle would do to you when you were just a child and you would have to awkwardly laugh and act surprised so he would stop bothering you with the lousy trick. Well, it was a hit…too much of a hit because the kid wouldn’t leave me alone…it was fun at first but honestly, I just couldn’t keep up. He kept showing me all the magic tricks he knew which by the way, when he told me to close my eyes, I always peeked…so I knew the trick before it even happened. We danced and had fun but I definitely came to the wedding with someone else…who by the way didn’t rescue me for a good hour. #ThanksForThat

I took zero pictures of the actual wedding but I’d just like to say those Barbadians (Bajans?) on the grooms side sure know how to exude their personalities in their outfits! So much sparkle and sass, I absolutely loved it!! There were bright colours and so much sequence, some of them even wore fancy little hats…I felt under dressed standing next to them. The bride wore a gorgeous dress – I didn’t want to be weird and ask to take a picture with her because we didn’t know each other, instead I just took pictures of her dress.

I like how the skirt was very traditional Italian and the top was more Bajan style with all the fun embellishments – way to go Bride, bringing both sides together.

I had so much fun at the wedding, danced my little heart out, and got to spend time with some pretty amazing people.

This morning when I woke up I thought I’d never eat again because I was so incredibly full from the night before…I was wrong…

You can’t do Sunday without comfort food and Netflix with your Person. Its been an incredible weekend, Monday is going to suck so hard.

My First BIG, FAT Italian Wedding

Pizza, Pasta, Vino – Thats all the Italian I know

Super excited to be playing dress up today, I have my dress, my shoes and my clutch, all that’s left is the ‘getting ready’ process. These are my beauty secrets, trust me its nothing special, I am so far from being a makeup guru – I honestly just buy what Shoppers Drug Mart has on sale. #TricksForThe Broke

I start off with this amazing moisturizer that my sister and I found at Shoppers Drug Mart, its so refreshing with a light scent that keeps my face hydrated and mattified all day! For only $24 I should have bought in bulk.

I then move on to the foundation of my face…ya know, ’cause we’re building a home for our makeup. I use a simple Fit Me Foundation by Maybelline, I love this foundation because its lightweight and really smooth, I don’t feel like it gets caked on and its the most natural look I’ve come across thus far…plus its cheap so thats a bonus!

Once I have my first base I seal everything in by adding a powder. I swear by this little thing because even if I’m not wearing foundation, its just as amazing on its own. I don’t think Bourjois gets enough credit for their Healthy Balance collection – I swear its magic.

This is probably not the best order of production here but now I use my handy, dandy contour stick… NYX Wonder Stick to get into specifics. I don’t go crazy with this, I don’t need people thinking I have permanent shadows on my face…only sometimes.

if needed, I powder a little after – I feel if makeup artist are reading this they are already trying to find out where I live to teach me a lesson on properly applying makeup…something about liquid before powder…the day it stops working for me I promise I’ll listen to what you have to say!
Next I use the magic of NYX Highlight and Contour Pro Pallet K, now I know I’m really asking for it…I don’t even use this for highlighting or contouring…I solely use this as my blush. When it works, it works.

I don’t use mascara because I’m super extra and get eyelash extensions done by the incredible Vanessa Stubbs. If I want to be a little more extra that day I just use my heated eyelash curler to add that ‘va-voom’ I’m looking for.

Finally I mess around with some eyeshadow, theres really only two or three colours I fu*k with; gold, brown, and white – I’m Creatively Uncreative like that. The Nudes eyeshadow pallet by Maybelline is lightweight powder that adds such boldness to my eyes.

Now its time to get dressed! I wanted to avoid a bra today because I didn’t want the straps to show and strapless bras just never stay up (I don’t trust women who wear strapless bras, how are you making them stay in place?!) I bought these “sticky boobs” from M Boutique the other day, only $28, unbelievable! And to think I’ve been spending over $40 at other places…watch, now that I’m bragging about it they probably won’t even be that sticky and I’ll have to go out and buy another pair.

I bought my outfit a few weeks ago from M Boutique, $96 for the set, the shoes are Steve Madden at $110, and the clutch is Michael Kors $198.

Now that I’ve just shared my process I should probably start it for real as I’ll be getting picked up soon…before I go, as a reminder to myself and also a tip for the readers, bring a pair of comfy shoes just in case.

Beauty is pain…come with a second pair of shoes!

I’m sure I will be posting about all the incredible foods I’m about to consume – “What wedding? I thought we were just going out for dinner?” clearly focusing on all the wrong things. Either way I am so excited for you to experience what I’m about to experience.

Catch you on the wine side,

Does Wearing Denim Make Me Cooler?

What do you call a pool full of denim?

A jean Pool.

Everyone who is anyone has something denim whether its a pair of denim pants, jacket, maybe a hat, or maybe you’re one of those trendsetters wearing a denim scrunchy…if you say otherwise you are a liar. Either way, we all mess around with denim in one way or another, So my question is…I obviously look cool in denim, but if I wear even more denim, do I look cooler?

The term Canadian Tuxedo comes to mind when you think ‘denim on denim’, I always thought it had a nerdy stigma that came with it…turns out it isn’t that nerdy and I totally dig it! (Oversized Denim Jacket: M Boutique $98, Jeans: M Boutique $98)

Throw on a crochet tank to soften the look (M Boutique $48) and a pair of white converse…just to be a little #Basic

Sometimes the Canadian Tuxedo might be too bold, so we split it up by only denim-izing our luscious legs and throwing on a pair of pumps to dress up the look! (Jeans: M Boutique $108, Shoes: Michael Kors $158)

I don’t know how I feel about a denim jacket, blue jeans and a denim button up shirt paired together but if you want to get crazy, why not try a denim choker?! (M Boutique $25)

‘Blue’ is the most common colour that comes to mind when you think ‘denim’ but it wasn’t until this year that I became a fan of blue jeans. I always preferred black denim because I thought they were more flattering…true, you can spill food on them and its less noticeable but I have learned to love both black and blue. Sometimes I’ll go wild and pair the two colours together – I’m such an animal! (Hat: M Boutique $20, Denim Bustier: M Boutique $58, Blue Pin Striped Blouse: M Boutique $58, Denim Choker with Rhinestones: $25, Black Denim: $118, Shoes: Michael Kors $158)

If you want to be super trendy, go ahead and rip up your jeans, the more holes the cooler. If  you can’t do it yourself and decide on buying the pants with the rips already made, be prepared to pay more. Less fabric = more money. #FactsOfLife
(Black Already Ripped Denim: M Boutique $108, Shoes: Steve Madden $159)

So basically what happened here is; I posted a bunch of pictures of myself wearing denim, stared at them for a long time and decided that YES, more denim = cooler me. #ObsessedWithMyself

These are the facts; blue jeans, black jeans, mix and match, Canadian Tuxedo – looks cool, the more the merrier.

My Blueberry Pecan Muffins with a Cream Cheese Topper

Muffin compares to my baking 😉

On days where I have an extended amount of free time and want to avoid cleaning my room, I go to the kitchen and either eat my bodyweight in whatever food I can find down there OR I bake…and then eat my bodyweight in what was just made. Today was a baking day.

As I scrounged through our pantry and fridge I found some great ingredients including; icing sugar, blueberry muffin mix, pecans, whipping cream, cream cheese, eggs and milk…so I thought “why not!”

First I started with the cream cheese topping, I just eyeballed this…my tastebuds did the measuring. I added the cream cheese, sprinkled in the icing sugar and added the whipping cream as needed. Then I stirred.

After doing that I moved on to the muffins adding in 3 cups of blueberry muffin mix with 3/4 cup of milk, 2 eggs and a bunch of crushed pecans.

Once it was all added into my bowl, I wiggled my nose Bewitched style and just like that my mix was ready! I wish, my arm was tired after mixing that, I lack upper body strength.

I spooned in the mix into my cupcake pan, I decided on mini muffins because 1. Food is always amazing when its smaller than its supposed to be and 2. I couldn’t find the regular sized muffin pan. Once my mix was added I plopped (gross) a dollop of the cream cheese mix on top of each muffin and stirred it up. I cooked my muffins at 350 degrees and waited semi patiently for 17 minutes….and cleaned this horrid mess…

Finally after all that, I’m super happy to say my muffins came out subpar! They look less than perfect but they taste like magical treats for my mouth.

I probably could have made a lovely loaf but I’m glad I have a bunch of Alice in Wonderland size treats for the week now!

My Brother Bought a Mansion

Join me on this journey through James’s new home

Today is my day off, instead of being super lazy and doing nothing my brother convinced me to drive him to the airport “Family, dude” is what he said. He offered to pay me $40, buy me lunch and pay the tolls for whatever highway we take, not bad for a day off work…when I hesitated he said “I looked it up on uber and it would have been $80 so you’re getting a deal!” it took me a good 3 minutes to realized I wasn’t the one getting the deal… I’m at his house now… is it too late to ask for more money?

Driving down his street was like driving down a super long road, I don’t even think it can be considered a “street”…well I missed his house at first, all these damn country homes need bigger numbers! I pull into the driveway…tell me why his house has two entrances. I was so confused and didn’t know where to go, good thing I had my phone to call him!

Finally made it into the house after going through the side door (went into the garage first…technically it was on the side of the house so no wonder I thought it was the side door). I was absolutely shocked when I saw his house…how is it that my younger brother lives in this mansion and I’m still in my childhood bedroom #Priorities.

The main room is so spacious, I probably would have decorated a little differently, the brick wall detail is to die for…came with the house. The tiger detailing really adds character to the room, it really sets a Mike Tyson vibe. The bed is there because they are selling it…hence the sign they put up.

A lot of their furniture has been frugally purchased…junking. That would explain their knight and shining armour watching over the room.

Natural sunlight brightens this room through the enormous doors that lead to the top level deck that wraps around the house.

And of course the kitchen…the most important part of the house.

James walks towards the kitchen windows to show me where he likes to stand when he’s hungover.

There are 4 bedrooms on the upper level – you don’t need to see that, just a bunch of boys live there so you can imagine what that looks and smells like. James, if you are reading this, I’m just kidding, you guys maintain well…however, you do have a garage, you don’t need to keep your tires in your room, I think they will be okay!

James took me on the tour to the basement and shit got real! This is where I discovered that this house has multiple dungeons, what looks like a slaughter room…and some other nice rooms. We started walking down the stairs, passed the front door which is encased in glass…how fancy! That muddy blanket is there from a party they had the other night (of course!)

The basement is furnished with a built in bar, they have a pretty sick lounge area with sliding doors behind the couches that lead outside and that other room…a library. Didn’t realize I was walking into the modern day castle from Beauty and the Beast (that was cheesy and I hate myself for that but I’m not going to bother taking it out).

The “library” has a more refined feel…can you believe these guys found this table and all the matching chairs while ‘junking’?! Also, lets just take in that incredibly terrifying painting that came with the house…obviously haunted.

The basement just kept going, we think the laundry room used to be a slaughter room where they killed cows…how did we get to this conclusion? Its farm country and theres a drain on the floor. The laundry chute was pretty neat. Other rooms include a DIY gym, I think its still in the works, two dungeons, a games room where ping pong was played too vigorously causing it to break, a jam room, a bathroom with heated ceilings…like, why? and a long hallway. Can you tell I’m getting tired of writing about this giant house?

After the long journey inside of the house James took me to see the backyard where they play golf, throw barn parties, and the fire pit! I did a lot of walking so we will just call that my workout for the day.

I’d say its been one hell of a productive day! After that grand tour I took a two hour drive from Brooklin to Pearson Airport to drop James off (have fun in Florida!) then drive back home…speaking of that long ass drive, I never got my money! …or lunch for that matter… I hope he knows I won’t be picking him up from the airport until I get that!

Part-time Princess👸🏽

I believe, do you?

For 3 years now I have been working as a Princess Performer with Princess Parties by Simone and it has been one of the most rewarding experiences…rewarding in a sense that yes, I get to brighten the days of children but also rewarding because I get to be treated like royalty.

The past week we did a meet-and-greet at The Pickering Town Centre, it had been awhile since my last gig so I was pretty stoked. This time my sister Lindsay got to be part of the Princess Team #SquadGoals – she had never done it before but has always wanted to play a princess (who wouldn’t). I have to say, she made a stunning princess! Don’t tell her I said that, her head will swell and I don’t need to be living with that.

The most difficult part of the day was driving to and from the event as these dresses were like, a hundred times our size. Looks great standing up, looks ridiculous jammed into a car…lets just say my car is still a disgusting mess and covered in dirt because of these gowns that dragged all that mess in.. #WorthIt

FullSizeRender.jpgFor two princesses who aren’t supposed to be related…we look a lot alike🤔

This is probably one of the best jobs anyone could possibly have, think about it, you get to dress up and lie for a living, easy! Its rewarding, fun, exciting, makes you believe in magic, occasionally you get free cake at parties, and the questions kids ask are the cherry on top! This is one of those jobs you want to keep in your back pocket, forever! I think their hiring 😉

Princess wave,

I gave up bread for the month…I never said anything about bread CRUMBS

There are loopholes in everything

Summer is around the corner and with that comes the inconvenient efforts you make to get your body where you want it to be. I thought by giving up bread for the month I’d get to where I wanted to be, faster…keep in mind pizza doesn’t count (obviously) thats a dough…and never once did I say I was giving up bread crumbs.

I’ve been introducing more veggies into my everyday but to make it more fun and exciting, I create new ways to make my bland vegetables a fiesta!

First I started by steaming these bad boys – Broccoli, Zucchini, and Asparagus

While that was going down I prepped a pan with aluminum foil, a bowl for mixing, olive oil – extra virgin 😉 – and of course a hefty dose of bread crumbs…probably enough to make three slices of bread, I’m making up for the lack of bread I’ve consumed these past 21 days.

IMG_7853Once my terribly bland vegetables were partially steamed I threw them into the bowl, added my virgin, and sprinkled on those crumbs.

IMG_7856-1These veggie babies were ready for the oven! I popped them in and baked them for a good 25 minutes. I started at 350 degrees but then got impatient so cranked that shit up to 500…same outcome, right?

IMG_7858-2I always impress myself with how talented I am, these were great! I don’t know how often I will conduct such a veggie ordeal but at least now I know I can…okay, its wasn’t so much an ordeal as it was just something to kill time before work today. The clean up was the worst part. I hate cleaning, its the one thing I’m bad at.

All in all I’m feeling refreshed and hella healthy!
